FEZ Urgut was officially created in January 2017. FEZ Urgut operates in three regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the Samarkand Region, Kashkadarya Region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan. In total, FEZ Urgut covers 1619 ha over 14 industrial blocks in these three regions.

The following three plots of FEZ Urgut located in the Urgut District are the core focus of the technical assistance from the Uzbekistan EIP Pilot Project. A total of 110 tenant companies are operating in these three plots. 

• Plot 1 Sariqtepa - 79 companies;

• Plot 2 Mergancha - 30 companies;    

• Plot 3 Urumas - 2 companies.

A range of industry sectors are operating in FEZ Urgut, including chemicals, leather, footwear, textiles, carpets, electrical equipment, household appliances, hygiene products, metal fabrication, construction materials.

A total of 6150 people currently work in all 14 blocks of FEZ Urgut with about 4000 workers in three industrial plots in Urgut District, as listed above. Conventional infrastructure (e.g. roads, electricity substation, water supply, telecommunications) is being provided in FEZ Urgut.
