Uzbekistan is actively moving towards sustainable development, shaping the “green” economy as a strategic direction of its national policy. As part of the implementation of the Strategy for Transition to a Green Economy for 2019–2030 and the State Program “Uzbekistan-2030,” in the Year of Environmental Protection and the Green Economy, the country is undertaking initiatives to integrate circular economy principles, including through the establishment of Eco-Industrial Parks (EIPs).

In this context, on May 22, 2025, a seminar will be held with the support of UNIDO, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the Institute of Legislation and Legal Policy under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the topic:

Key Topics of the Seminar:

* The role of EIPs in reducing environmental impact and increasing resource efficiency;

* Tools for assessing industrial zone sustainability (including the EQuIP methodology);

* Interconnection between industrial policy and green growth;

* International experience in the creation and development of EIPs;

* Mechanisms for encouraging green transformation in industry;

* Legal and institutional aspects of implementing EIPs in Uzbekistan.

Invited participants include representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, industrial zone managers, business community members, experts, scholars, and representatives of non-governmental organizations.

The seminar aims to raise awareness about the importance of EIPs, facilitate experience exchange, and develop recommendations that can form the basis of legal frameworks to support the accelerated transition to an environmentally sustainable economy.
